Description
SGTA Monoclonal Antibody [PAT19E8AT] (CPAB0651)
The SGTA Polyclonal Antibody (CPAB0651) is a valuable tool for researchers studying SGTA, a protein involved in protein folding and quality control in the cell. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific for detecting SGTA in human samples and is validated for use in Western blotting and immunohistochemistry applications. By targeting SGTA, researchers can easily visualize and study the protein in various cell types, making it an essential component for studies in cell biology and protein quality control mechanisms.SGTA, also known as small glutamine-rich tetratricopeptide repeat-containing protein alpha, plays a crucial role in maintaining protein homeostasis and preventing the accumulation of misfolded proteins in the cell.
Dysregulation of SGTA has been implicated in various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders and cancer, highlighting its importance in cellular function. By understanding the role of SGTA, researchers can develop targeted therapies that modulate protein folding pathways and potentially treat diseases associated with protein misfolding.

Background: | SGTA is a ubiquitously expressed protein that contains three TPR protein-protein interaction duplicates. SGTA takes part as a component of the androgen receptor (AR)-chaperone-cochaperone complex, functions as a cochaperone and participates in androgen signaling. SGTA binds directly to HSC70 and HSP70 and mediates their ATPase activity. SGTA gene encodes a protein that is able to interact with the chief nonstructural protein of parvovirus H-1 and 70-kDa heat shock cognate. In addition, SGTA interacts with Vpu and Gag from HIV-1, SARS-CoV accessory protein 7a, DNAJC5 and DNAJC5B. Since this transcript is expressed universally in several tissues, SGTA serves a housekeeping function. While being involved in apoptosis and androgen signaling, SGTA is a possible molecule for polycystic ovary syndrome, a disorder characterized by androgen excess, obesity and menstrual disturbances. |
