The SEMG2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12826) is a valuable tool for researchers studying SEMG2, a major semen protein known for its role in male fertility and reproductive health. This antibody, produced in rabbits, specifically targets SEMG2 in human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to SEMG2, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of this important protein in various cell types, making it a crucial reagent for studies in reproductive biology and fertility research.SEMG2, also referred to as semenogelin 2, is a key component of semen that plays a critical role in sperm function and fertility. Its functions include sperm protection, capacitation, and interactions with female reproductive tract proteins during fertilization.
Researchers studying male infertility, reproductive health, and contraceptive methods can benefit from using this antibody to investigate the mechanisms underlying SEMG2's functions and its implications for human fertility.Understanding the functions and regulation of SEMG2 is essential for developing novel diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies for male infertility and reproductive disorders. By utilizing the CAB12826 Polyclonal Antibody in their studies, researchers can gain valuable insights into the role of SEMG2 in male reproductive biology and potentially uncover new avenues for improving male fertility and reproductive health.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 383-582 of human SEMG2 (NP_002999.1).
The secreted protein encoded by this gene is involved in the formation of a gel matrix that encases ejaculated spermatozoa. Proteolysis by the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) breaks down the gel matrix and allows the spermatozoa to move more freely. The encoded protein is found in lesser abundance than a similar semenogelin protein. An antibacterial activity has been found for a antimicrobial peptide isolated from this protein. The genes encoding these two semenogelin proteins are found in a cluster on chromosome 20.
