Description
SEMG1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB24532)
The SEMG1 Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers studying SEMG1, a protein involved in sperm function and male infertility. This antibody, produced in rabbits, shows high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting. By specifically binding to the SEMG1 protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a range of cell types, making it a key resource for investigations in reproductive biology and fertility research.SEMG1, also known as semenogelin-1, plays a critical role in sperm motility and fertility by contributing to the formation of the sperm plasma membrane. Dysregulation of SEMG1 has been associated with male infertility, making it a target of interest for studies on reproductive health and assisted reproductive technologies.
Insights gained from research on SEMG1 could lead to the development of new diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies for individuals experiencing fertility challenges.Overall, the SEMG1 Polyclonal Antibody offers researchers a reliable and specific tool for exploring the functions and mechanisms of SEMG1 in the context of male reproductive health. Its utility in various experimental techniques makes it well-suited for investigations seeking to unravel the complexities of sperm biology and infertility.

The protein encoded by this gene is the predominant protein in semen. The encoded secreted protein is involved in the formation of a gel matrix that encases ejaculated spermatozoa. This preproprotein is proteolytically processed by the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) protease to generate multiple peptide products that exhibit distinct functions. One of these peptides, SgI-29, is an antimicrobial peptide with antibacterial activity. This proteolysis process also breaks down the gel matrix and allows the spermatozoa to move more freely. This gene and another similar semenogelin gene are present in a gene cluster on chromosome 20.
