The Securin Polyclonal Antibody (CAB8307) is a essential tool for researchers studying Securin, a key protein involved in cell cycle regulation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity for detecting Securin in human samples, making it a reliable choice for use in Western blotting applications. By binding to the Securin protein, it allows for accurate detection and quantification in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for investigations in cell biology and cancer research.
Securin, also known as PTTG1, is a crucial player in regulating the cell cycle by inhibiting the separation of sister chromatids during cell division. Dysregulation of Securin has been linked to abnormal cell growth and tumorigenesis, making it a promising target for cancer therapy research. By understanding the function and expression of Securin, researchers can gain insights into the mechanisms underlying cancer development and potentially identify new therapeutic targets for intervention.

The encoded protein is a homolog of yeast securin proteins, which prevent separins from promoting sister chromatid separation. It is an anaphase-promoting complex (APC) substrate that associates with a separin until activation of the APC. The gene product has transforming activity in vitro and tumorigenic activity in vivo, and the gene is highly expressed in various tumors. The gene product contains 2 PXXP motifs, which are required for its transforming and tumorigenic activities, as well as for its stimulation of basic fibroblast growth factor expression. It also contains a destruction box (D box) that is required for its degradation by the APC. The acidic C-terminal region of the encoded protein can act as a transactivation domain. The gene product is mainly a cytosolic protein, although it partially localizes in the nucleus. Three transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
