Description
RYK Antibody (PACO58881)
The RYK Polyclonal Antibody (PACO58881) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the RYK protein, a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in various cellular processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific to human RYK and has been validated for use in Western blotting applications.RYK plays a crucial role in neuronal development, axon guidance, and synapse formation, making it a key player in neurobiology research. Additionally, RYK has been implicated in cancer progression, making it a potential target for cancer therapy research.
The RYK Polyclonal Antibody enables researchers to detect and analyze RYK expression in different cell types, making it an essential tool for studies in neuroscience and oncology. By understanding the function of RYK, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying development and disease, paving the way for the development of novel therapeutic strategies targeting RYK-related pathways.

IHC image of PACO58881 diluted at 1:200 and staining in paraffin-embedded human breast cancer performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system. | |

Background: | May be a coreceptor along with FZD8 of Wnt proteins, such as WNT1, WNT3, WNT3A and WNT5A. Involved in neuron differentiation, axon guidance, corpus callosum establishment and neurite outgrowth. In response to WNT3 stimulation, receptor C-terminal cleavage occurs in its transmembrane region and allows the C-terminal intracellular product to translocate from the cytoplasm to the nucleus where it plays a crucial role in neuronal development. |
Synonyms: | Tyrosine-protein kinase RYK (EC 2.7.10.1), RYK, JTK5A |
UniProt Protein Function: | RYK: a receptor tyrosine kinase of the Ryk family. Associates with, and may modulate the signaling of, EphB2 and EphB3. Expressed in nestin-positive progenitor cells and neurons, some oligodendrocytes, O-2A progenitor cells, and type-2 astrocytes in developing CNS. |

NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is an atypical member of the family of growth factor receptor protein tyrosine kinases, differing from other members at a number of conserved residues in the activation and nucleotide binding domains. This gene product belongs to a subfamily whose members do not appear to be regulated by phosphorylation in the activation segment. It has been suggested that mediation of biological activity by recruitment of a signaling-competent auxiliary protein may occur through an as yet uncharacterized mechanism. The encoded protein has a leucine-rich extracellular domain with a WIF-type Wnt binding region, a single transmembrane domain, and an intracellular tyrosine kinase domain. This protein is involved in stimulating Wnt signaling pathways such as the regulation of axon pathfinding. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
