The ROM1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6970) is a valuable tool for researchers studying retinal outer segment membrane protein 1 (ROM1), a protein involved in the formation and maintenance of photoreceptor outer segments in the eye. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific and reacts strongly with human samples, making it ideal for use in Western blotting and immunohistochemistry applications.ROM1 plays a crucial role in the visual cycle and is essential for the function of photoreceptor cells in the retina. Mutations in the ROM1 gene have been associated with various forms of retinal degeneration, making it a key target for research into inherited retinal disorders.
By using the ROM1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can detect and analyze ROM1 expression in different cell types, providing valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying these diseases. In addition to its role in retinal biology, ROM1 has also been linked to other cellular processes, including protein trafficking and stability. As such, the ROM1 Polyclonal Antibody is a versatile tool that can be used in a wide range of research areas, including vision science, genetics, and neurobiology. Its high specificity and reactivity make it a reliable reagent for studying the function and regulation of ROM1 in both normal and pathological conditions.

This gene is a member of a photoreceptor-specific gene family and encodes an integral membrane protein found in the photoreceptor disk rim of the eye. This protein can form homodimers or can heterodimerize with another photoreceptor, retinal degeneration slow (RDS). It is essential for disk morphogenesis, and may also function as an adhesion molecule involved in the stabilization and compaction of outer segment disks or in the maintenance of the curvature of the rim. Certain defects in this gene have been associated with the degenerative eye disease retinitis pigmentosa.
