Human Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), often known as VEGF-A and vascular permeability factor, is a platelet-derived growth factor of the family of cysteine-knot growth factors. It is a strong activator of both physiologic and pathologic vasculogenesis and angiogenesis. VEGF-A is composed of 8 distinct variants; VEGF165 being the most common. VEGF165 is a disulfide-linked homodimer consisting of two glycosylated 165 amino acid polypeptide chains. VEGF binds to tyrosine kinase receptors VEGFR1 and VEGFR2 on the cell surface, triggering a cellular response. It is widely accepted that VEGFR2 mediate almost all of the known cellular responses to VEGF while the function of VEGFR1 is less defined and is thought to modulate the VEGFR2 signaling. Human VEGF165/VEGFA Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
