Troponin I, also known as TNNC1, is part of the troponin complex. The troponin complex is made up of three subunits: troponin I (TnI), troponin T (TnT), and troponin C (TnC). The inhibitory subunit of troponin I, inhibits actin-myosin interactions and therefore induces striated muscle relaxation. It binds to actin in thin myofilaments and holds the actin-tropomyosinthe complex in place. Because of it, myosin is unable to connect actin in relaxed muscle. Calcium binds to Troponin C, causing conformational changes that result in tropomyosin leaving the binding site for myosin on actin, which causes muscle contraction. Human Troponin C/TNNC1 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
