Protein S100-A9 (also known as MRP14 and calgranulin B) is a calcium- and zinc-binding protein that has important roles in inflammation management and the immune response. It can cause neutrophil chemotaxis, adhesion, and promote neutrophil phagocytosis by activating the SYK, PI3K/AKT, and ERK1/2 as well as degranulation by a MAPK-dependent mechanism.
