PTPN12 is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are molecules that have been observed to be signaling molecules that control a variety of cellular functions, such as cell growth, differentiation, mitosis, and oncogenic transformation. PTPN12 has a C-terminal PEST motif, which is involved in protein–protein interactions and may be linked to intracellular half-life. PTPN12 was found to bind and dephosphorylate the product of oncogene c-ABL, thus may play a role in oncogenesis. PTPN12 was found to bind and dephosphorylate a variety of cytoskeleton and cell adhesion molecules, including p130 (Cas), CAKbeta/PTK2B, PSTPIP1, and paxillin. This suggested that it has regulatory functions in controlling cell shape and mobility. Human PTPN12 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
