Human beta-Nerve Growth Factor (beta-NGF) was initially isolated in the mouse submandibular gland. It is made up of three non-covalently linked subunits, beta, which has all of the biological effects ascribed to NGF. BDNF is structurally related to it; NT-3 and -4, as well as other cysteine-knot growth factors, are in the family of stable dimeric structures. Beta-NGF is a neurotrophic factor that activates its receptor beta-NGF and has an important function in the formation and maintenance of the sensory and sympathetic nervous systems. Beta-NGF promotes B cell growth and maturation, as well as enhancing B-cell survival. Our findings suggest that beta-NGF is a pleiotropic cytokine, with potential immunomodulatory effects in addition to its neurotrophic effects. The human beta-NGF protein is similar in sequence to mouse protein and exhibits cross-species reactivity. Human Beta-NGF/NGFB Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
