Human beta-Nerve Growth Factor (beta-NGF) was initially isolated in the mouse submandibular gland. The structure of NGF consists of three non-covalently linked subunits, beta and; it has all of the biological activities associated with NGF. It is structurally linked to BDNF and belongs to the cysteine-knot dynasty of growth factors, which have a stable dimeric form. Nerve growth factor (NGF) is a neurotrophic factor that activates the beta-NGF receptor and communicates via it in order to regulate cell development and survival in the sensory and sympathetic nervous systems. Beta-NGF also serves as a B-cell growth and differentiation molecule, promoting B-cell survival. These findings suggest that beta-NGF is a polytropic cytokine, which in addition to its neurotropic effects may play an important role in immune system regulation. Human beta-NGF has 90% sequence homology with mouse protein and cross-species reactivity. Human Beta-NGF/NGFB Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
