Human METAP1 Recombinant Protein
Methionine Aminopeptidase 1 is a member of the M24 family of metalloproteases. METAP1 is a core component of the G(2)/M transition that occurs during the cell cycle and may be a useful target for the development of new anticancer drugs. METAP1 and METAP2 have dissimilar substrate preferences owing to the varying sizes and shapes of the active sites. N-terminal methionine removal is catalysed by a group of enzymes known as methionine aminopeptidases (MetAPs), which are required for cell development. Inhibition of METAPs provides a novel strategy in developing anti-cancer drugs.
