Interleukin-22(IL-22) is a member of a group of the IL-10 family; a class of potent mediators of cellular inflammatory responses. DC and T cells are the main producers of IL-22. The IL-22 and IL-10 receptors perform a part in cellular targeting and signal transduction. It can create and manage natural immune responses against bacterial infections, especially in epithelial cells such as respiratory and gut epithelial cells. IL-22 and IL-17 are both required for the adaptive and innate immune systems to work together. IL-22 also promotes hepatocyte survival in the liver and epithelial cells in the lung and stomach, similar to IL-10. Binding to a cell-surface complex comprised of IL-22R1 and IL-10R2 receptor chains activates biological activity of IL-22. The IL-22 biological activity is controlled by a soluble binding protein, IL-22BP. The IL-22BP and the extracellular region of IL-22R1 have a similar sequence. The pro-inflammatory versus tissue-protective activities of IL-22 are sometimes directed by cytokine IL-17A.IL-22 Recombinant Protein (C-hIgG2 Fc) is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
Measured by its ability to induce IL-10 secretion in COLO 205 human colorectal adenocarcinoma cells. The ED50 for this effect is 90.41 ng/ml.
