Interleukin-22(IL-22) is a member of the IL-10 family, a group of potent inflammatory mediators. IL-22 is produced by activated DC and T cells. The IL-22 and IL-10 receptors are involved in cell targeting and signal transduction. It activates and controls innate immune responses against bacterial infections, particularly in epithelial cells like respiratory and gut epithelial cells. IL-22, along with IL-17, is involved in the coordinated response of both adaptive and innate immune systems. IL-22 has the ability to promote hepatocyte survival in the liver and epithelial cells in the lung and gut, which is similar to IL-10. The biological activity of IL-22 is activated by binding to a cell-surface complex made up of the IL-22R1 and IL-10R2 receptor chains. The biological activity of IL-22 is also controlled by interactions with a soluble binding protein, called IL-22BP. IL-22BP and an extracellular region of IL-22R1 share sequence similarity. In some situations, IL-22's pro-inflammatory vs. tissue-protective activities are regulated by cytokine IL-17A. Human Interleukin-22/IL-22 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
