Immunoglobulin G (IgG), as a monomeric immunoglobulin that is primarily involved in the secondary antibody response and the only isotype capable of crossing the human placenta, is created and released by plasma B cells. IgG antibodies combat disease by agglutination and immobilization, complement activation, toxin neutralization, and antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC). The tetrameric form of the immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody is often referred to as "Y-like" because it comprises two heavy chains (50 kD) and two light chains (25 kD), connected by disulfide bonds. Fab fragment (antigen-binding fragment) and Fc portion are generated by peptic digestion of IgG. Human serum contains the most IgG1 among the four IgG subclasses (IgG1, 2, 3, and 4) and binds to Fc receptors (FcR ) with high affinity on phagocytic cells. It has been linked to phagocytosis, inflammation, and targeting Ig to specific tissues. Protein G or Protein A, which is on the surface of certain Staphylococcal and Streptococcal bacteria, binds to the Fc region of IgGs. It has a number of applications in biotechnology as an affinity purification reagent for various protein families. The recombinant IgG Fc region is being studied as a potential anti-inflammatory medication for human autoimmune diseases. Human IgG1 Fc Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
