Human HDAC4 Recombinant Protein

HDAC4 (histone deacetylase 4), belongs to class II of the histone deacetylase/acuc/apha family. A family of enzymes known as histone deacetylases (HDACs) are closely associated with sirtuins. They catalyze the removal of acetyl groups from lysine residues in histones and non-histone proteins, resulting in transcriptional repression. They are not autonomous in the sense that they do not function alone, but rather as components of larger multiprotein complexes such as pRb-E2F and mSin3A, which control important transcriptional regulators. HDACs are divided into three categories: classes 1, 2, and 4, which are Zn2+-dependent enzymes. HDACs are present in all cells and may be found within the nucleus or cytosol. Protein-protein interactions and the class to which they belong determine their subcellular localization. These enzymes have been linked to cell growth arrest, differentiation and death, resulting in a lot of interest in HDAC inhibitors as potential anti-neoplastic medicines. The HDAC4 protein has histone deacetylase activity and represses transcription when bound to a promoter. It is not a DNA-binding transcription factor, but one that activates transcription factors MEF2C and MEF2D indirectly. HDAC4 seems to interact in a multiprotein complex with RbAp48 and HDAC3. Human HDAC4 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
