Granulocyte-Macrophage Colony Stimulating Factor (GM-CSF) was initially identified as a growth factor that can aid in the cell proliferation of granulocyte-macrophage progenitors in culture. It is made by a variety of different cell types (including activated T cells, B cells, macrophages, mast cells, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts) in response to immune and inflammatory cytokines. GM-CSF is also a growth factor for erythroid, megakaryocyte, and eosinophil progenitors. GM-CSF promotes endothelial cell migration and proliferation in human cells. Additionally, GM-CSF has been found to promote the proliferation of osteogenic sarcoma; carcinoma and adenocarcinoma cell lines in culture. Human GM-CSF/CSF2 Recombinant Protein (E.coli) is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
