FGF-basic is a members of the Fibroblast Growth Factors (FGFs) family. The FGFs family contains a broad range of proteins that are involved in diverse aspects of development, including cell proliferation, growth, and specialization. FGFs act on a variety of cell types to control many physiological activities, such as angiogenesis, cell development, pattern formation, embryonic development, metabolic regulation, cell migration, neurotrophic effects, and tissue repair. FGF-basic is a non-glycosylated heparin binding growth factor that is produced in the brain, pituitary, kidney, retina, bone, testis, adrenal gland liver, monocytes, epithelial cells and endothelial cells. FGF-basic signals through FGFR 1b; 1c; 2c; 3c and 4. Human FGF-2/FGFb Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
Measured in a cell proliferation assay using BALB/c 3T3 cells. The ED50 for this effect is ?10 ng/ml.
