Gastrotropin (Fatty acid-binding protein 6/Ileal lipid-binding protein (ILBP)/ Intestinal 15 kDa protein/Intestinal bile acid-binding protein (I-BABP)/FABP6) is a cytoplasmic protein from the calycin superfamily and Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family. FABP6 isozymes 2 are expressed in colorectal adenocarcinomas as well as the adjacent normal mucosa (at protein level). FABP6 variant Isoform 1 is expressed in the jejunum, ileum, cecum and ascending colon. Isoform 2 is found in the gallbladder, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum, ascending, transverse and descending colon, sigmoid colon, and rectum. FABP6 is a cancer-related enzyme that works as an intracellular transporter of bile acid in the ileal epithelium. FABP6 may also play an important role in early carcinogenesis. Human FABP6/I-BABP Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
A DNA sequence encoding the human FABP6 (AAH22489.1) (Met 1-Ala 128) was expressed and purified.
