Human FABP3 Recombinant Protein

Fatty acid-binding protein 3 (FABP3; also termed heart-type fatty acid-binding protein) is an intracellular lipid-binding protein in the family of substrate transporter proteins. It may be important for transporting fats, cell development, cellular signalling and gene transcription. Previously, FABP3 was linked to apoptosis-related congenital cardiac malformations. FABP3 knockdown exhibited significant toxic effects on cardiac development and mitochondrial function; which may be responsible for the knockdown of FABP3-induced apoptosis. A deletion in the FABP3 gene has been identified as a risk factor for congenital heart disease. Overexpression of FABP3 inhibits cell growth and proliferation through negative regulation of the cell cycle and down-regulation of cell growth factors; however, it enhances cell survival in hypoxic or ischemic conditions. The FABPs are believed to be carrier proteins for transporting lipophilic substances such as fats from the cytoplasm to the nucleus, where these lipids are then released to a group of nuclear receptors such as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs). Human FABP3 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
