Human Cytochrome b5/CYB5A Recombinant Protein
Cytochrome b5 protein is a membrane-bound cytochrome that converts ferric haemoglobin (methemoglobin) to ferrous haemoglobin, this reaction is required for stearyl-CoA desaturase activity. Type IV Hereditary Methemoglobinemia is a disease associated with Cytochrome b5. Ambiguous genitalia and methemoglobinemia are two other disorders also linked with the CYB5A mutation. Water-soluble vitamins and cofactors are pathways dependent on the CYB5A.
