Human CASK Kinase Recombinant Protein

Peripheral plasma membrane protein CASK; also known as calcium/calmodulin-dependent serine protein kinase; CASK and LIN2 is a nucleus, cytoplasm, and cell membrane protein which belongs to the MAGUK family. CASK/LIN2 contains one guanylate kinase-like domain; two L27 domains; one PDZ (DHR) domain; one protein kinase domain and one SH3 domain. CASK/LIN2 is ubiquitously expressed. Expression of CASK/LIN2 is significantly greater in brain relative to kidney; lung; and liver and in fetal brain and kidney relative to lung and liver. CASK/LIN2 is a multidomain scaffolding protein that has a role in synaptic transmembrane protein anchoring and ion channel trafficking. CASK/LIN2 binds to and activates TRB1, which is involved in neural development and gene expression regulation. Its affinity for cell-surface proteins includes amyloid precursor protein, neurexins and syndecans. The protein CASK/LIN2 may play a role in linking the extracellular matrix to the actin cytoskeleton through its interaction with syndecan and Actin/Spectrin-Binding Protein 4.1. Deficits in CALK are the reason of X-linked CASK-related mental retardation (MRXCASK). The term mental retardation refers to significantly below average overall intellectual functioning, as well as impairments in adaptative behavior that manifest during childhood. CASK is also linked to FG syndrome type 4, an X-linked disease marked by mental impairment, relative macrocephaly, hypotonia, and constipation. Human CASK Kinase Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
