Carbonic anhydrase X, or carbonic anhydrase-related protein X (CARPX) and CA10, is a zinc metalloenzyme from the CA family that catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide in various biological processes such as respiration, renal tubular acidification, and bone resorption. The secreted protein CARPX, which lacks CA activity (hydration of CO2), is a catalytic member of the alpha-carbonic anhydrase subgroup. The CARP X gene is found in the adult total brain and almost all parts of the central nervous system, but it isn't present in the fetal brain. As a result, CARP X is thought to be important in the formation of the central nervous system, especially the brain. The same CARP X protein is encoded by multiple transcript variants of this gene. Carbonic Anhydrase 10/CA10 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
