Human BID Recombinant Protein

The BH3 interacting domain death agonist (BID) is a pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 protein family member that only contains the BH3 domain; it is required for its interaction with the Bcl-2 family proteins and for its pro-death function. BID is important to cell death mediated by these proteases and thus is the sentinel to protease-mediated death signals. According to recent research, Bid may be involved in more than just cell death; it may also aid in the maintenance of genomic stability by interacting with mitosis checkpoint. The BID protein is an essential integration key regulator of the intrinsic death pathway, which amplifies caspase-dependent and caspase-independent neuronal apoptosis. Therefore pharmacological inhibition of BID provides a promising therapeutic strategy in neurological diseases where programmed cell death is prominent. Activated by Fas/TNF-R1 death receptor activation, the BID response is regulated by Caspase 8. Activated BID is transported to the mitochondria, where it activates cytochrome c release and subsequent caspase activation. The mitochondrial re-location of its truncated form, tBid; to assist with the release of apoptogenic proteins like cytochrome c is a BID action. Human BID Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
