Human ALDH4A1 Recombinant Protein

ALDH4A1 is an aldehyde dehydrogenase that belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family. Aldehyde dehydrogenases are involved in the metabolism of numerous substances, including certain fats (cholesterol and other fatty acids) and protein building blocks (amino acids). External pollutants and alcohol, as well as internal poisons such as toxins generated within cells, are all detoxified by aldehyde dehydrogenase enzymes. ALDH4A1 is found in significant amounts in the liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, heart, brain, placenta, lung and pancreas. It is a mitochondrial matrix NAD-dependent dehydrogenase that converts pyrroline-5-carboxylate to glutamate in the proline degradation pathway's second step. The cause of hyperprolinemia type 2 (HP-2) is a deficiency in the enzyme ALDH4A1. HP-2 is characterized by delta-1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate (P5C) and proline accumulation. Epilepsy, mental retardation, and other neurologic problems can all be linked to the condition. Human ALDH4A1 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
