Description
RBP4 Monoclonal Antibody [PAT2B4AT] (CPAB0068)
The RBP4 Polyclonal Antibody (CPAB0068) is a vital tool for researchers studying Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4), a crucial protein involved in the transportation of retinol (vitamin A) in the blood. This antibody, generated in rabbits, shows high specificity and reactivity towards human samples, making it a reliable choice for Western blot applications. By binding to the RBP4 protein, this antibody facilitates precise detection and analysis in various cell types, which is particularly valuable for investigations in the fields of metabolism, diabetes, and obesity research.
RBP4 is a key player in the regulation of insulin resistance and glucose metabolism, thereby linking it to metabolic disorders like type 2 diabetes and obesity. Its role in lipid metabolism and its association with cardiometabolic diseases make it a promising target for therapeutic interventions aimed at addressing these prevalent health issues. By unraveling the functions of RBP4, researchers can gain valuable insights that could lead to the development of novel treatments and preventative strategies for metabolic disorders.

Background: | Retinol binding protein 4(RBP4) belongs to the lipocalin family and is the specific carrier for retinol (vitamin A alcohol) in the blood. This protein was found to be expressed and secreted by adipose tissue, and was strongly associated with insulin resistance. It delivers retinol from the liver stores to the peripheral tissues. In plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin which prevents its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli. RBP4 delivers retinol from the liver to the peripheral tissues.
