| Background: | Important in cell-cell recognition. Appears to function in leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion. The VCAM1/ITGA4/ITGB1 interaction may play a pathophysiologic role both in immune responses and in leukocyte emigration to sites of inflammation. |
