The Rat GC (Glucagon) ELISA Kit is a specialized assay designed to quantitatively measure levels of glucagon in various rat biological samples. Glucagon is a crucial peptide hormone produced by the pancreatic alpha cells that plays a central role in glucose metabolism, particularly in regulating blood sugar levels. As a counter-regulatory hormone to insulin, glucagon stimulates the liver to release glucose into the bloodstream, promoting gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis. Dysregulation of glucagon levels can significantly impact metabolic homeostasis and contribute to disorders like diabetes and hypoglycemia. This ELISA kit provides a precise and reliable method for assessing glucagon concentrations in biological samples, offering valuable insights into the hormone's physiological functions, metabolic control, and potential implications in metabolic disorders.
Accurate measurement of glucagon is essential for understanding its pivotal role in glucose metabolism, energy balance, and systemic metabolic responses, making it a valuable tool for research in endocrinology and metabolism. The Rat GC (Glucagon) ELISA Kit from Assay Genie ensures high sensitivity and specificity, delivering consistent and reproducible results. Manufactured with stringent quality control standards, this kit offers robust performance and user-friendly protocols, making it an excellent choice for researchers investigating the intricate role of glucagon in metabolic regulation and its impact on health and disease.

This ELISA kit uses the Competitive-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with GC. During the reaction, GC in the sample or standard competes with a fixed amount of GC on the solid phase supporter for sites on the Biotinylated Detection Ab specific to GC. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed away, and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added to each micro plate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color turns from blue to yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm ± 2 nm. The concentration of GC in tested samples can be calculated by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
