The RAD51 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6268) is a vital tool for researchers studying RAD51, a protein involved in DNA repair and maintenance. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to RAD51, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of RAD51 protein levels in various cell types, making it an essential resource for studies in genetics, cancer research, and DNA damage response.RAD51 is a key player in homologous recombination, a crucial mechanism for repairing double-strand breaks in DNA.
Dysregulation of RAD51 has been linked to genetic instability, cancer development, and chemotherapy resistance. The ability to accurately measure RAD51 expression levels and activity is essential for understanding its role in these processes and developing targeted therapies for conditions such as cancer. The RAD51 Polyclonal Antibody serves as a valuable tool for unlocking the mysteries of DNA repair and its implications for human health.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the RAD51 protein family. RAD51 family members are highly similar to bacterial RecA and Saccharomyces cerevisiae Rad51, and are known to be involved in the homologous recombination and repair of DNA. This protein can interact with the ssDNA-binding protein RPA and RAD52, and it is thought to play roles in homologous pairing and strand transfer of DNA. This protein is also found to interact with BRCA1 and BRCA2, which may be important for the cellular response to DNA damage. BRCA2 is shown to regulate both the intracellular localization and DNA-binding ability of this protein. Loss of these controls following BRCA2 inactivation may be a key event leading to genomic instability and tumorigenesis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
