The Rab8A Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2810) is a valuable tool for researchers studying Rab8A, a key protein involved in intracellular membrane trafficking and cell signaling. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity towards human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.Rab8A is a member of the Rab family of small GTPases, known for their roles in regulating vesicle trafficking and organelle dynamics. Rab8A specifically plays a crucial role in the regulation of polarized membrane transport and ciliary function. Dysregulation of Rab8A has been linked to various diseases, including cancer, neurodevelopmental disorders, and ciliopathies.
By targeting Rab8A, researchers can gain insights into the mechanisms underlying intracellular trafficking processes and how they impact cellular functions and signaling pathways. The Rab8A Polyclonal Antibody enables the detection and analysis of Rab8A protein expression in different cell types, making it a valuable tool for studies in cell biology, molecular biology, and disease research. Understanding the role of Rab8A can provide valuable information for the development of targeted therapies for diseases associated with dysregulated membrane trafficking and cell signaling pathways.

A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 100-207 of human RAB8A (NP_005361.2).
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the RAS superfamily which are small GTP/GDP-binding proteins with an average size of 200 amino acids. The RAS-related proteins of the RAB/YPT family may play a role in the transport of proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi and the plasma membrane. This protein shares 97%, 96%, and 51% similarity with the dog RAB8, mouse MEL, and mouse YPT1 proteins, respectively and contains the 4 GTP/GDP-binding sites that are present in all the RAS proteins. The putative effector-binding site of this protein is similar to that of the RAB/YPT proteins. However, this protein contains a C-terminal CAAX motif that is characteristic of many RAS superfamily members but which is not found in YPT1 and the majority of RAB proteins. Although this gene was isolated as a transforming gene from a melanoma cell line, no linkage between MEL and malignant melanoma has been demonstrable. This oncogene is located 800 kb distal to MY09B on chromosome 19p13.1.
