The PTPRN2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB14774) is a valuable tool for researchers studying PTPRN2, a protein tyrosine phosphatase involved in insulin secretion and diabetes. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. It binds to PTPRN2, allowing for accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for studies in endocrinology and metabolic disorders.PTPRN2, also known as islet cell antigen-related protein, plays a critical role in insulin exocytosis and regulation of blood glucose levels.
Dysregulation of PTPRN2 has been linked to diabetes and other metabolic diseases, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions. By understanding the function and regulation of PTPRN2, researchers can uncover new insights into the pathogenesis of these conditions and potentially identify novel treatment strategies.

This gene encodes a protein with sequence similarity to receptor-like protein tyrosine phosphatases. However, tyrosine phosphatase activity has not been experimentally validated for this protein. Studies of the rat ortholog suggest that the encoded protein may instead function as a phosphatidylinositol phosphatase with the ability to dephosphorylate phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate and phosphatidylinositol 4,5-diphosphate, and this function may be involved in the regulation of insulin secretion. This protein has been identified as an autoantigen in insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
