The PSENEN Polyclonal Antibody (CAB15172) is a valuable tool for researchers studying PSENEN, a protein involved in the gamma-secretase complex that plays a critical role in the processing of amyloid precursor protein (APP) and the production of amyloid beta peptides implicated in Alzheimer's disease. Raised in rabbits, this antibody is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to PSENEN, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of the protein in various cell types, making it an essential component for studies in neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases.
PSENEN's role in the gamma-secretase complex highlights its potential as a target for therapeutic interventions aimed at modulating amyloid beta production and potentially slowing the progression of Alzheimer's disease. Understanding the function and regulation of PSENEN is essential for developing novel treatment strategies for this devastating neurological disorder.

Presenilins, which are components of the gamma-secretase protein complex, are required for intramembranous processing of some type I transmembrane proteins, such as the Notch proteins and the beta-amyloid precursor protein. Signaling by Notch receptors mediates a wide range of developmental cell fates. Processing of the beta-amyloid precursor protein generates neurotoxic amyloid beta peptides, the major component of senile plaques associated with Alzheimer's disease. This gene encodes a protein that is required for Notch pathway signaling, and for the activity and accumulation of gamma-secretase. Mutations resulting in haploinsufficiency for this gene cause familial acne inversa-2 (ACNINV2). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
