The PRKAB2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6952) is a valuable tool for researchers studying PRKAB2, a key regulatory subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) complex involved in cellular energy homeostasis. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the PRKAB2 protein, this antibody allows for accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an essential choice for studies in metabolism, diabetes, and cancer research.
PRKAB2 plays a crucial role in regulating cellular metabolism and energy balance, making it a promising target for investigating metabolic disorders, including diabetes and obesity. Understanding the function of PRKAB2 is essential for developing therapeutic strategies aimed at modulating metabolic pathways and addressing related diseases. With its ability to reliably detect PRKAB2 protein levels, this antibody is a valuable asset for researchers working to unravel the complexities of cellular energy regulation.

The protein encoded by this gene is a regulatory subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK is a heterotrimer consisting of an alpha catalytic subunit, and non-catalytic beta and gamma subunits. AMPK is an important energy-sensing enzyme that monitors cellular energy status. In response to cellular metabolic stresses, AMPK is activated, and thus phosphorylates and inactivates acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and beta-hydroxy beta-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR), key enzymes involved in regulating de novo biosynthesis of fatty acid and cholesterol. This subunit may be a positive regulator of AMPK activity. It is highly expressed in skeletal muscle and thus may have tissue-specific roles. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.
