The Presenilin-1 Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody (CAB19103) is a valuable tool for researchers studying Presenilin-1, a protein involved in the processing of the Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP) and the generation of beta-amyloid peptides. This antibody, derived from rabbits, has high affinity for Presenilin-1 and has been validated for use in Western blot applications, enabling the detection and analysis of Presenilin-1 in various biological samples.Presenilin-1 is a key player in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease, as mutations in the PSEN1 gene encoding Presenilin-1 have been linked to early-onset familial Alzheimer's disease. By studying the function and regulation of Presenilin-1, researchers can gain insights into the mechanisms underlying Alzheimer's disease and potentially identify new therapeutic targets for the treatment of this devastating neurodegenerative disorder.
This antibody is a valuable tool for researchers investigating the role of Presenilin-1 in Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, as well as those studying the broader functions of Presenilin-1 in cellular processes such as signal transduction and intramembrane proteolysis. Its high specificity and sensitivity make it an ideal choice for immunodetection assays aimed at elucidating the biological functions of Presenilin-1 in health and disease.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients with an inherited form of the disease carry mutations in the presenilin proteins (PSEN1; PSEN2) or in the amyloid precursor protein (APP). These disease-linked mutations result in increased production of the longer form of amyloid-beta (main component of amyloid deposits found in AD brains). Presenilins are postulated to regulate APP processing through their effects on gamma-secretase, an enzyme that cleaves APP. Also, it is thought that the presenilins are involved in the cleavage of the Notch receptor, such that they either directly regulate gamma-secretase activity or themselves are protease enzymes. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene, the full-length nature of only some have been determined.
