The PPT1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB14769) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the PPT1 protein, which is involved in lysosomal function and metabolism. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in various applications such as Western blotting. By binding to the PPT1 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of PPT1 in different cell types, making it an essential tool for studies in lysosomal storage disorders and metabolic diseases.PPT1, also known as palmitoyl-protein thioesterase 1, plays a crucial role in the breakdown of lipid-modified proteins in the lysosome. Mutations in the PPT1 gene can lead to the accumulation of undigested materials in the lysosome, resulting in lysosomal storage disorders such as neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis.
By studying the function and regulation of PPT1, researchers can gain insights into the pathogenesis of these disorders and discover potential therapeutic targets for treatment.Overall, the PPT1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB14769) is a valuable tool for researchers interested in understanding the role of PPT1 in lysosomal function and metabolism. Its high specificity and reliability make it a trusted reagent for studies aiming to uncover the mechanisms underlying lysosomal storage disorders and develop targeted therapies for these debilitating conditions.
Product Name:
PPT1 Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody
SKU:
CAB14769
Size:
20uL, 100uL
Isotype:
IgG
Host Species:
Rabbit
Reactivity:
Human,Mouse,Rat
Immunogen:
Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 28-306 of human PPT1 (NP_000301.1).
The protein encoded by this gene is a small glycoprotein involved in the catabolism of lipid-modified proteins during lysosomal degradation. The encoded enzyme removes thioester-linked fatty acyl groups such as palmitate from cysteine residues. Defects in this gene are a cause of infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis 1 (CLN1, or INCL) and neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis 4 (CLN4). Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
