The PPP1CA Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2184) is specifically designed for researchers exploring the functions of PPP1CA, a key regulatory protein involved in various cellular processes. This antibody, raised in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the PPP1CA protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an excellent tool for studies in cell biology and signal transduction pathways.PPP1CA, also known as protein phosphatase 1 catalytic subunit alpha, plays a crucial role in the dephosphorylation of proteins, contributing to the regulation of numerous cellular functions such as cell cycle progression, metabolism, and gene expression.
Understanding the functions of PPP1CA is essential for advancing research in areas like cancer biology, neurobiology, and metabolic disorders. This antibody provides researchers with a valuable tool for investigating the role of PPP1CA in various cellular processes and disease states, ultimately leading to potential therapeutic interventions.

The protein encoded by this gene is one of the three catalytic subunits of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1). This broadly expressed gene encodes the alpha subunit of the PP1 complex that associates with over 200 regulatory proteins to form holoenzymes which dephosphorylate their biological targets with high specificity. PP1 is a serine/threonine specific protein phosphatase known to be involved in the regulation of a variety of cellular processes, such as cell division, glycogen metabolism, muscle contractility, protein synthesis, and HIV-1 viral transcription. Increased PP1 activity has been observed in the end stage of heart failure. Studies suggest that PP1 is an important regulator of cardiac function and that PP1 deregulation is implicated in diabetes and multiple types of cancer. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
