The PON2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1646) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the Paraoxonase 2 (PON2) enzyme, which plays a crucial role in antioxidant defense and lipid metabolism. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.PON2 is an important enzyme that protects cells from oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation, making it a key player in various physiological processes. Research suggests that PON2 may have implications in conditions such as atherosclerosis, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions.
This polyclonal antibody binds specifically to the PON2 protein, allowing for the detection and analysis of PON2 expression in different cell types. Its reliability and specificity make it an ideal choice for studies in oxidative stress, lipid metabolism, and related pathways. By understanding the function and regulation of PON2, researchers can uncover novel insights into disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic strategies.

This gene encodes a member of the paraoxonase gene family, which includes three known members located adjacent to each other on the long arm of chromosome 7. The encoded protein is ubiquitously expressed in human tissues, membrane-bound, and may act as a cellular antioxidant, protecting cells from oxidative stress. Hydrolytic activity against acylhomoserine lactones, important bacterial quorum-sensing mediators, suggests the encoded protein may also play a role in defense responses to pathogenic bacteria. Mutations in this gene may be associated with vascular disease and a number of quantitative phenotypes related to diabetes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
