The PON1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1321) is a valuable tool for research involving Paraoxonase 1 (PON1), an enzyme known for its antioxidant properties and role in lipid metabolism. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the PON1 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it a versatile tool for studies in biochemistry and cardiovascular research.
PON1 is a key player in protecting against oxidative stress and inflammation, making it a critical target for research into cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and other metabolic disorders. Its ability to prevent lipid oxidation and modulate inflammatory responses highlights its potential as a therapeutic target for controlling lipid levels and reducing cardiovascular risk. Understanding the function of PON1 is essential for developing targeted therapies to combat these prevalent health issues.

This gene encodes a member of the paraoxonase family of enzymes and exhibits lactonase and ester hydrolase activity. Following synthesis in the kidney and liver, the enzyme is secreted into the circulation, where it binds to high density lipoprotein (HDL) particles and hydrolyzes thiolactones and xenobiotics, including paraoxon, a metabolite of the insecticide parathion. Polymorphisms in this gene may be associated with coronary artery disease and diabetic retinopathy. The gene is found in a cluster of three related paraoxonase genes on chromosome 7.
