The Plod3 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB10547) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the Plod3 protein, a key enzyme in collagen biosynthesis. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the Plod3 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of Plod3 in a variety of cell types, making it a valuable asset for studies in the fields of connective tissue disorders, fibrosis, and extracellular matrix remodeling.Plod3, also known as procollagen-lysine 2-oxyglutarate 5-dioxygenase 3, plays a crucial role in the post-translational modification of collagen, contributing to the stability and function of this essential structural protein.
Dysregulation of Plod3 activity has been implicated in various pathologies, including connective tissue disorders like Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and fibrotic diseases such as scleroderma. By elucidating the function and regulation of Plod3, researchers can gain valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying these conditions and potentially identify new therapeutic targets for intervention.
Product Name:
PLOD3 Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody

Immunogen:
Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 25-280 of human PLOD3 (NP_001075.1).
The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane-bound homodimeric enzyme that is localized to the cisternae of the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The enzyme (cofactors iron and ascorbate) catalyzes the hydroxylation of lysyl residues in collagen-like peptides. The resultant hydroxylysyl groups are attachment sites for carbohydrates in collagen and thus are critical for the stability of intermolecular crosslinks. Some patients with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome type VIB have deficiencies in lysyl hydroxylase activity.
