The PLAT Polyclonal Antibody (CAB5655) is a valuable tool for researchers studying PLAT, a protein involved in the regulation of blood clot formation. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and reactivity with human samples, making it an ideal choice for Western blotting applications. By binding to the PLAT protein, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of PLAT in a variety of cell types, offering valuable insights into its role in hemostasis and thrombosis.PLAT, also known as tissue-type plasminogen activator, plays a crucial role in the breakdown of blood clots, making it a key player in the regulation of blood clotting processes.
Dysregulation of PLAT activity has been implicated in various cardiovascular diseases, making it a promising target for therapeutic intervention. By studying the function of PLAT using this antibody, researchers can gain a better understanding of its role in clot formation and identify potential strategies for treating clot-related disorders.

This gene encodes tissue-type plasminogen activator, a secreted serine protease that converts the proenzyme plasminogen to plasmin, a fibrinolytic enzyme. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed by plasmin or trypsin to generate heavy and light chains. These chains associate via disulfide linkages to form the heterodimeric enzyme. This enzyme plays a role in cell migration and tissue remodeling. Increased enzymatic activity causes hyperfibrinolysis, which manifests as excessive bleeding, while decreased activity leads to hypofibrinolysis, which can result in thrombosis or embolism. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes an isoform that is proteolytically processed.
