The PIGO Polyclonal Antibody (CAB18670) is a valuable tool for research involving the PIGO protein, which is critical for the biosynthesis of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchors. These anchors are essential for attaching proteins to the cell membrane and are involved in various cellular processes, including signal transduction and immune response.Raised in rabbits, this antibody is highly specific and reactive with human samples, making it ideal for studies in cell biology, molecular biology, and immunology. It has been validated for use in Western blot applications, enabling detection and analysis of the PIGO protein in various cell types. The PIGO protein plays a crucial role in maintaining cell membrane integrity and function.
Mutations in the PIGO gene have been associated with rare genetic disorders known as glycosylphosphatidylinositol biosynthesis defects, which can lead to developmental delays, seizures, and other severe symptoms.By studying the function of the PIGO protein, researchers can gain insights into the mechanisms underlying these disorders and potentially develop targeted therapies to treat them. The PIGO Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for investigating the role of PIGO in health and disease, making it a valuable asset for researchers in the field of genetics and rare diseases.

This gene encodes a protein that is involved in glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchor biosynthesis. The GPI-anchor is a glycolipid which contains three mannose molecules in its core backbone. The GPI-anchor is found on many blood cells and serves to anchor proteins to the cell surface. This protein is involved in the transfer of ethanolaminephosphate (EtNP) to the third mannose in GPI. At least three alternatively spliced transcripts encoding two distinct isoforms have been found for this gene.
