The PHYH Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6304) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the peroxisomal enzyme PHYH, which plays a critical role in the catabolism of phytanic acid. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in techniques such as Western blotting.PHYH is essential for the breakdown of phytanic acid, a branched-chain fatty acid found in certain foods. Dysregulation of PHYH activity can lead to the accumulation of phytanic acid, causing the rare metabolic disorder known as Refsum disease.
By detecting and analyzing PHYH protein levels in various cell types, researchers can gain insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying this disorder and explore potential therapeutic interventions. The PHYH Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for studying the function and regulation of PHYH in both normal and disease states. Its specificity and sensitivity make it ideal for use in research areas such as biochemistry, metabolism, and rare genetic disorders.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-338 of human PHYH (NP_006205.1).
This gene is a member of the PhyH family and encodes a peroxisomal protein that is involved in the alpha-oxidation of 3-methyl branched fatty acids. Specifically, this protein converts phytanoyl-CoA to 2-hydroxyphytanoyl-CoA. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Refsum disease (RD) and deficient protein activity has been associated with Zellweger syndrome and rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized.
