The use of alternative translation start sites results in isoforms with longer or shorter N-termini which may differ in their subcellular localizations. There are two pseudogenes for this gene on chromosome 17.

Western blot analysis of lysates from NIH/3T3 cells, using Phospho-p70 S6 Kinase 1-T421/S424 pAb (CABP1106) at 1:1000 dilution or P70 S6K antibody (A16968). NIH/3T3 cells were treated with EGF (100 ng/mL) at 37℃ for 30 minutes after serum-starvation overnight. Secondary antibody: HRP-conjugated Goat anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) (AS014) at 1:10000 dilution. Lysates/proteins: 25μg per lane. Blocking buffer: 3% BSA. Detection: ECL Basic Kit (AbGn00020). Exposure time: 180s.
