The Phospho-EIF4G1 (S1108) Polyclonal Antibody (CABP0796) is a valuable tool for researchers studying EIF4G1, a key protein involved in translation initiation and regulation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has been rigorously validated for use in Western blot analysis and is highly specific for human samples.EIF4G1 plays a vital role in protein synthesis and is regulated by phosphorylation at S1108, which affects its function in translation. The Phospho-EIF4G1 (S1108) antibody enables researchers to detect and quantify the phosphorylation status of EIF4G1 in various cell types, providing valuable insights into its role in cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, and proliferation.
The dysregulation of EIF4G1 and its phosphorylation have been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, neurological disorders, and metabolic conditions. By studying the phosphorylation of EIF4G1 at S1108, researchers can gain a better understanding of its impact on cellular functions and its potential as a therapeutic target for treating diseases associated with aberrant protein synthesis.

The protein encoded by this gene is a component of the multi-subunit protein complex EIF4F. This complex facilitates the recruitment of mRNA to the ribosome, which is a rate-limiting step during the initiation phase of protein synthesis. The recognition of the mRNA cap and the ATP-dependent unwinding of 5'-terminal secondary structure is catalyzed by factors in this complex. The subunit encoded by this gene is a large scaffolding protein that contains binding sites for other members of the EIF4F complex. A domain at its N-terminus can also interact with the poly(A)-binding protein, which may mediate the circularization of mRNA during translation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, some of which are derived from alternative promoter usage.
