The Phospho-APP (T668) Polyclonal Antibody (CABP0006) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the phosphorylation of the amyloid precursor protein (APP). This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high specificity for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blotting applications.Phosphorylation of the APP protein plays a key role in the processing and metabolism of amyloid beta peptides, which are implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. By targeting the phosphorylated form of APP at threonine 668, researchers can gain insights into the mechanisms underlying APP processing and the development of amyloid plaques.
With its ability to detect and analyze phosphorylated APP in various cell types, this antibody is well-suited for investigations in neurobiology, neurodegenerative diseases, and aging research. Understanding the regulation of APP phosphorylation is essential for unraveling the complex pathways involved in Alzheimer's disease and may lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies targeting this critical protein.

This gene encodes a cell surface receptor and transmembrane precursor protein that is cleaved by secretases to form a number of peptides. Some of these peptides are secreted and can bind to the acetyltransferase complex APBB1/TIP60 to promote transcriptional activation, while others form the protein basis of the amyloid plaques found in the brains of patients with Alzheimer disease. In addition, two of the peptides are antimicrobial peptides, having been shown to have bacteriocidal and antifungal activities. Mutations in this gene have been implicated in autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease and cerebroarterial amyloidosis (cerebral amyloid angiopathy). Multiple transcript variants encoding several different isoforms have been found for this gene.
