The Phospho-ALOX5 (S271) Polyclonal Antibody (CABP0573) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the ALOX5 protein, a key enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes and inflammation regulation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific for phosphorylated ALOX5 at serine 271 and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the phosphorylated form of ALOX5, researchers can investigate the signaling pathways and mechanisms involved in inflammatory responses and disease progression.ALOX5 plays a crucial role in the arachidonic acid cascade, leading to the production of leukotrienes that are involved in various inflammatory processes.
Dysregulation of ALOX5 activity has been implicated in inflammatory disorders, asthma, and cancer, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions. By using the Phospho-ALOX5 (S271) Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can gain insights into the activation and function of ALOX5 in different cell types and conditions, advancing our understanding of inflammatory diseases and facilitating the development of targeted treatments.

This gene encodes a member of the lipoxygenase gene family and plays a dual role in the synthesis of leukotrienes from arachidonic acid. The encoded protein, which is expressed specifically in bone marrow-derived cells, catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to 5(S)-hydroperoxy-6-trans-8,11,14-cis-eicosatetraenoic acid, and further to the allylic epoxide 5(S)-trans-7,9-trans-11,14-cis-eicosatetrenoic acid (leukotriene A4). Leukotrienes are important mediators of a number of inflammatory and allergic conditions. Mutations in the promoter region of this gene lead to a diminished response to antileukotriene drugs used in the treatment of asthma and may also be associated with atherosclerosis and several cancers. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
