The PGK1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB14039) is specifically designed for research involving PGK1, a key enzyme involved in glycolysis. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly reactive with human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including Western blot and immunohistochemistry.PGK1, also known as phosphoglycerate kinase 1, plays a crucial role in the glycolytic pathway by catalyzing the conversion of 1,3-diphosphoglycerate to 3-phosphoglycerate. Dysregulation of PGK1 has been linked to various diseases, including cancer and metabolic disorders, making it an important target for research in these areas.
By utilizing the PGK1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can effectively detect and analyze PGK1 levels in different cell types and tissue samples. This antibody is ideal for studies focusing on metabolism, cancer biology, and metabolic diseases, providing valuable insights into the role of PGK1 in these physiological processes.

The protein encoded by this gene is a glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of 1,3-diphosphoglycerate to 3-phosphoglycerate. The encoded protein may also act as a cofactor for polymerase alpha. Additionally, this protein is secreted by tumor cells where it participates in angiogenesis by functioning to reduce disulfide bonds in the serine protease, plasmin, which consequently leads to the release of the tumor blood vessel inhibitor angiostatin. The encoded protein has been identified as a moonlighting protein based on its ability to perform mechanistically distinct functions. Deficiency of the enzyme is associated with a wide range of clinical phenotypes hemolytic anemia and neurological impairment. Pseudogenes of this gene have been defined on chromosomes 19, 21 and the X chromosome.
