Description
PFKFB1/PFKFB4 Antibody (PACO01324)
The PFKFB1/PFKFB4 Polyclonal Antibody (PACO01324) is a valuable tool for researchers studying glucose metabolism and its role in cancer and other metabolic diseases. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific for PFKFB1 and PFKFB4 proteins, which play a crucial role in the regulation of glycolysis and cell proliferation.PFKFB1 and PFKFB4 are key enzymes that control the synthesis of fructose-2,6-bisphosphate, a potent allosteric activator of 6-phosphofructo-1-kinase. This process is essential for the glycolytic pathway, which is often dysregulated in cancer cells to support their rapid growth and proliferation. By targeting these enzymes, researchers can gain valuable insights into the metabolic pathways driving tumor progression and potentially identify new therapeutic targets.
The PFKFB1/PFKFB4 Polyclonal Antibody is validated for use in Western blot applications and is highly reactive with human samples. Its ability to specifically bind to PFKFB1 and PFKFB4 proteins makes it a powerful tool for studying the role of these enzymes in cancer biology and metabolic diseases. Researchers can use this antibody to analyze protein expression levels, localization, and interactions in various cell types, advancing our understanding of glucose metabolism and its implications for human health.

NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a member of the family of bifunctional 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase:fructose-2,6-biphosphatase enzymes. The enzyme forms a homodimer that catalyzes both the synthesis and degradation of fructose-2,6-biphosphate using independent catalytic domains. Fructose-2,6-biphosphate is an activator of the glycolysis pathway and an inhibitor of the gluconeogenesis pathway. Consequently, regulating fructose-2,6-biphosphate levels through the activity of this enzyme is thought to regulate glucose homeostasis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2012] |
