The PERK Monoclonal Antibody is a powerful tool for researchers studying the PERK protein, a key player in the unfolded protein response (UPR) pathway. This antibody, generated from mouse cells, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity towards PERK in human samples, making it ideal for use in Western blotting and immunofluorescence applications.PERK, also known as pancreatic endoplasmic reticulum kinase, is an essential component of the UPR pathway, which is activated in response to endoplasmic reticulum stress. Dysregulation of this pathway has been implicated in various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes, and cancer.
By targeting PERK with this monoclonal antibody, researchers can gain insights into the mechanisms underlying these pathologies and potentially identify new therapeutic strategies. With its ability to detect and analyze PERK in different cell types, the PERK Monoclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for studies in cell biology, molecular biology, and drug discovery. By understanding the role of PERK in cellular stress responses, researchers can uncover novel targets for intervention and ultimately improve the management of diseases associated with protein misfolding and ER stress.

The protein encoded by this gene phosphorylates the alpha subunit of eukaryotic translation-initiation factor 2, leading to its inactivation, and thus to a rapid reduction of translational initiation and repression of global protein synthesis. This protein is thought to modulate mitochondrial function. It is a type I membrane protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), where it is induced by ER stress caused by malfolded proteins. Mutations in this gene are associated with Wolcott-Rallison syndrome.
